Area Agency on Aging, Southeast Kansas

The Area Agency on Aging serves the senior population (60+) of Allen, Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson counties providing services, programs, and information that will assist older persons in maintaining independence and dignity in their lives.

The Area Agency on Aging serves the senior population (60+) of Barton, Jasper, Newton, and McDonald counties providing services, programs, and information that will assist older persons in maintaining independence and dignity in their lives. 

Bright Futures

Bright Futures connects community resources to students who may need food, clothing, vision care, beds, or mentoring.  Volunteers help with preparing snack packs or hygiene kits, sorting, and offering encouragement or academic support.

Children's Haven of Southwest Missouri

Children's Haven provides safe, nurturing shelter and case management at no cost to families in crisis.  Volunteers help provide meals or snacks, organize activities or fundraising drives, or help with landscaping or maintenance.

Community Clinic of Southwest Missouri

The Community Clinic provides essential low-cost medical, dental, and mental health services to individuals without insurance in the community.  Volunteer opportunities include both medical (physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, medical assistants, lab techs, behavioral health specialists, and more) or non-medical (translators, administrative support, IT assistance, cleaning, fundraising, general office help).

Joplin Humane Society

Joplin Humane Society volunteers are vital to the shelter's daily operations and community outreach. Volunteers must be 16 or older or have a parent or guardian present.   

Medical Loan Closet
415 E. 7th Street
Joplin, MO 

The Medical Loan Closet provides free, safe, accessible durable medical equipment - such as walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, shower chairs, and more - to anyone in need.  Volunteers help clean, organize, and distribute donated equipment, greet and assist borrowers and donors, conduct safety checks, organize inventory, and more.

Restoration Life Center

Neosho, MO

The Restoration Life Center provides help for those experiencing homelessness with immediate relief including meals, showers, a place to sleep, and opportunities to develop life skills on a path to self-sufficiency.  Volunteers help prepare and serve meals, clean, provide education services, or maintain the property.  

Ronald McDonald House 
3402 S. Jackson Ave.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children (ages 0-21) and expectant mothers being treated at local hospitals.  House volunteers check families in and out, help with light housekeeping, and cover the front desk. (8 hours a month) Special project volunteers may do landscaping, cleaning, or other projects.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Mercy Hospital Joplin offers families of pediatric patients (ages 0-21) a place to rest and regroup just steps away from their child's hospital room. As a family room volunteer, you welcome families into the space and check them in and out, help with some light chores, and use the quiet time to study, craft, or work.

Salvation Army - Pittsburg

The Salvation Army works to strengthen communities and offer hope to those in crisis.  Volunteer opportunities include: Food Pantry & Meal Service (sorting donations, stocking shelves, preparing and serving meals), Emergency Disaster Services (distributing food, assisting with aid response, offering comfort), Seasonal Programs (Angel Tree, toy drives, Red Kettle ringing), Shelter & Housing Support (tutoring or helping with activities), or Administrative Support (office tasks, event support).

Souls Harbor

Souls Harbor serves individuals and families experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hardship.  Volunteers assist in the food pantry and free store, support office operations, help with mal distribution, organizations, and other hands-on assistance.

Watered Gardens

Watered Gardens provides services and outreach to individuals and families experiencing homelessness at the Outreach Center and Overnight Shelter, Project Worth, Forge, and Washington Family Hope Center.  Volunteers are essential to this work, with opportunities to help with shelter services, meal support, and relational outreach.  

Wesley House

Wesley House is the largest food pantry in Southeast Kansas.  This outreach ministry is reaching the needs of low-income families across the greater Pittsburg area.
